1991-1995 Anime Primer
Ai no Kusabi (1992)The inhabitants of the planet Amoi are divided into a strict caste system established by the sentient supercomputer Jupiter. The ruling class are the Blondies, elite cyborgs of Jupiter’s own creation who enforce its authoritarian reign from the futuristic city of Tanagura; their polar opposites are the Mongrels, descendants of failed freedom fighters doomed to languish in the slums of Ceres. Lines are crossed when Riki, a brash Mongrel, has an erotic encounter with Iason Mink, the highest-ranking Blondie. Iason’s insatiable curiosity, aroused by Riki’s rebellious spirit, quickly morphs into risqué attachment. In a world where subjugation is the norm, Iason and Riki’s ambivalent bond—existing in the space between freedom and bondage, love and hate—is the ultimate taboo.
This two-part OVA is a partial adaption of Rieko Yoshida’s award-winning novel series, initially serialized in the pioneering BL magazine June and considered a landmark work of the genre. It’s also a solid piece of science fiction, drawing influence from Brave New World, Logan’s Run and Soylent Green in its exploration of dire dystopian power dynamics. The detailed setting is lushly realized by Studio AIC and Naoyuki Onda’s (Nineteen 19, To-y) character designs brim with slick sensuality, making Ai no Kusabi stand out as one of the more complex and polished titles of the first wave of direct-to-video BL releases to hit the shelves in the late 80s and early 90s.
Ai no Kusabi features explicit content and sensitive themes, so caution is advised.

Here you go: SU x QE crossover magic
This is a parody comic I made for myself to hand out at SDCC2018 and isn’t official so don’t sweat the small stuff!
Many thanks to ghostdigits for her help. She is my spell checker extraordinaire and listened to me bounce ideas around in the eleventh hour while I worried if I ever knew anything about comedy in the first place. Hahaha…haha….aaa.… go, fight, win/finish a comic!
